Overview & Essential Job Functions

Position Summary:


The Recruiter will report to the Vice President of Human Resources and will collaborate with the HR Department staff as well as Operational leadership to achieve and maintain the organization’s goals in overall staffing.  The Recruiter is responsible for monitoring the recruiting needs for the Company meeting hiring goals for business growth. This will be achieved through execution of recruiting plans and sourcing strategies. The Corporate Recruiter will play a critical role in ensuring we are hiring the best possible talent.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Recruit, screen, interview, administer, evaluate while providing a positive applicant experience.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Department on strategic planning of reduction of turnover, recruitment strategies, policy restructure, and overall business exposure.
  • Work with hiring managers on recruitment and growth planning.
  • Place and update all job postings in various media sources including internet/intranet sites, colleges, social networks and employment agencies.
  • Represent the company at recruiting events (i.e., job and resource fairs, city events, and college career fairs), provide company/job information and interview applicants.
  • Communicate with managers and employees regularly to establish rapport, gauge morale, and source new candidate leads.
  • Encourage employee referral program to provide incentive for internal referrals.
  • Give presentations at colleges, attend student group meetings, and increase college awareness of the company before and after career fairs.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of our recruiting efforts.
  • Research and recommended new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting and building networks.
  • Assist in performing reference and background checks, and extending offers of employment.
  • Provide candidates with information regarding compensation, benefits, policies and procedures, in order to ensure the candidate is well informed, and to promote a positive image.
  • Utilize Applicant Tracking System (iCIMS) to track open positions, search status, credentials, and reference checks. Provide regular reports on status of searches.
  • Enhance professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
  • Represent Athens in a professional manner at all times with employees, vendors, suppliers, etc., and performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Environmental Demands

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5 - 10 years HR experience within the transportation, waste, or manufacturing industries.
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to work extended workdays, weekends, and travel locally as needed to support business needs.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge in HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Extensive knowledge in investigative reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge in employee relations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Management and/or Human Resources Team.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree.
  • PHR Certification.
