Overview & Essential Job Functions

Position Summary:


The Compliance Supervisor directly reports to the Compliance and Business Development Manager.  The Compliance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing staff for all city compliance and audit related duties.  This position will also interact with multiple departments including government relations, accounting, operations, sales, IT, and customer service in order to develop, improve, and ensure that Athens Services is in full contractual compliance with all of our municipal agreements.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with staff to ensure all diversion meets the minimum percentage requirements - monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Oversee franchise fee payments prior to contract due dates.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of all permits, business license renewals, bonds, and vehicle compliance requirements. 
  • Partner with Government Affairs and Sales departments to ensure all newsletters and outreach material has met its contractual agreement.
  • Ensure company compliance of AB 341 and AB 1826 programs.
  • Responsible for producing any additional reporting requirements as well as tracking performance standards and liquidated damages. 
  • Lead staff to enhance revenue through city audits and additional programs in place.
  • Meet and collaborate with various city staff, attend city council meetings, both on an individual basis and with other key members of Athens.
  • Expected to maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality with the Company records and information.

Qualifications & Environmental Demands

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or other business related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a comparable role.
  • 2 years of experience in leading a staff of five or more.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of employees, managers, and outside parties in a team orientated setting.
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational, and oral/written communication skills.
  • Awareness of business trends.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Waste industry experience.
  • Soft-Pak knowledge.

    • Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, & noise occasionally.
    • Exposure to grease, oil, chemicals, & wet conditions occasionally.
    • Works inside only. Position considered office only.
