  • Overview & Essential Job Functions

    Position Summary:


    The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for financial reporting, general accounting activity related to the month-end closing process, variance analysis, annual audit, and related duties as assigned.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Month-end financial reporting.
    • Monthly and annual financial closing process.
    • GL Account reconciliation and analysis.
    • Prepare and approve journal entries.
    • Assist in the development of management reporting.
    • Assist in various projects that include but not limited to acquisitions, software conversions, writing and implementing new policies and procedures.
    • Interact with other department personnel to improve processes.
    • Conduct research and prepare summary reports.
    • Assist in annual audit.

    Qualifications & Environmental Demands

    Required Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance.
    • 3 - 8 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
    • Proven senior accounting experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
    • Awareness of business trends.
    • Experience with creating financial statements.
    • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
    • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.


    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Master’s Degree
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA Candidate
    • Waste industry experience
